About faculty-nominated scholarships

Our faculty care about your success — academically, personally, and financially. A number of our scholarships are sponsored by USM’s colleges and schools, and faculty nominate the student award recipients. So get to know your professors! They’re also an invaluable information resource and can connect you with opportunities in your field of study.

Over $18 million in grants

Grants funded by the University or the Federal or state government are awarded to undergraduate students who demonstrate a financial need. These awards are not dependent on academic standing and they do not need to be repaid — grants are free money to help reduce your student debt.

External Scholarships

In addition to scholarships provided by the University, there are many external scholarship opportunities provided by state, national, and global organizations. Please note that USM is not responsible for external scholarship program information or the selection of award recipients.

Disclaimer: Be sure to read the criteria for individual scholarships carefully. Most scholarships have enrollment and GPA requirements. Award amounts may vary each year and are subject to fund availability. As an NCAA Division III school, USM is prohibited from awarding scholarships based on athletic participation.
